Who was the Lady Thatcher
I saw, observed and felt the immediate effects of the events that shaped Britain from the mid twentieth century onwards.
I watched the first episode of Doctor Who, the last bit from behind the big leather arm chair, the first bit from the cracket. My Granda had switched channels away from a news program when scenes of some war or other had come on screen. He was still suffering from the mental scars of the first big war with Germany. I think he was embarrassed by the way he sometimes broke down in tears when scenes of modern warfare and talk of war with Russia or anything to do with Germany came on the news. It wasn’t the violence, he loved Cowboy and Indian films, no, it was the politicians who saw the working class as ‘the enemy within’. He hated their willingness to send millions off to war and then treat the survivors as potential trouble makers and revolutionaries at wars end. Granda blamed politicians and their own self importance, bravado, personal self interest and rank stupidity for war. They caused war and fully expected the whole population to fight it but also treated the working class like the scum they had been brought up to believe they all were.
There were instances during the 20th century when troops were mobilised to crush what the government saw as the beginning of the insurrection they had always feared since the Norman conquest in 1066 ad and the harrying of the North genocide. (T.B.C.)( trace the family tree of the leaders of that genocide. Might be interesting. I might ask if they want to say sorry for that haha)Lots of the present day ruling class and others with power can trace their families back to the Norman invaders!
After the Great War when the depression hit, my Granda, who was a proud man, a time served Pile Driver, went through a period of having to take whatever jobs were going. The worst one was having to smash glass bottles and cement the jagged bits into the top of a wall that surrounded a massive house with loads of land on the outskirts of Westoe village. Every time me and my Aunty Kitty went passed that wall on the Trolly Bus she told me of those times as she pointed out the glass my Granda and other veterans had cut themselves to ribbons on. The owner of the property didn’t pay much but saw it as an act of charity so must have felt good about that, probably bragged about his charitable works to his chums down the council. It was the fear of those very men becoming so desperate that they would one day climb over that wall and cut their throats that prompted the act of charity in the first place. Kitty told me all this and more. The wall is still there but the glass was removed when a new housing estate and care home were built on the land.
My Nana and Kitty were terrified of the local council (T.B.C). A section of the sitting room window was still taped up with tape they had put on to stop flying glass during the second big war with Germany. That section of window had been broken accidentally by one of the family so they had never told the council. The council was supposed to have come round after the war to collect gas masks but they didn’t come during the week they said they would although the house might have been empty if they did come. They kept all the war stuff safe just in case they did ever come.
The main reason they were scared of the council was because during the war there was a miners strike and a regiment of southern regular soldiers was sent to stop local striking miners from picking coal off the slag heap. They didn’t trust the Home Guard to shoot trespassers although hundreds of people, probably drunks mainly, had been shot by the Home Guard. Some by accident but some because the opportunity to settle a score presented itself. (T.B.C).
Anyway, it was winter and the people had no fuel for heating or cooking so my uncles took every other ceiling joist out from the loft and burned them. That’s why they were terrified of the council. Wonder if that house is private now and if it is, I wonder if the surveyor picked up on the missing joists and broken windows?
I think the glass was removed due to Health and safety concerns. No doubt there have been MSM hyped up stories about home owners being sued by burglers. May or may not be true but by the time solicitors have drawn up contracts they will embody the fear aspect and charge for their services accordingly. Insurance companies too but I’ve got too much going on to investigate lol. I’m retired anyway and don’t want to change the world. I just enjoy observing and marveling at the truth once I get down to it
When I was growing up it was Aunty Kitty who looked after me for the day, every day from mid morning to bed time. Mam had my younger brother Brian to look after but I loved the arrangement and got to play with all the toys my mam had looked after. Her favourite thing had been the Silver Cross pram which had been well looked after and was as good as new.
I will leave it there as my mind wandered off, I was going to write about the origins of the Neo Patriots. In short they are the privileged families who were bought by Thatcher and brain washed by Murdoch into the selfish Neo Privileged working class who were too ashamed to admit they had ever voted for Thatcher. I don’t blame them, Human Beings are selfish by Nature, it’s a survival thing, an instinct. Thatcher bribed council home renters to buy those homes at a give away price an actual steal in fact. They called it the right to buy scheme and it started the current housing crisis, which was Thatchers intention. WIP (T.B.C.)
